Matthias Chika Mordi

Chief Executive

Mordi is a vastly experienced participant in financial markets, public policy and thought leadership on the  African continent.  He brings his experience as a banking executive, economist, communications researcher, and anti-corruption promoter to VIS. He is Chairman, United Capital PLC, an adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University SAIS, Pioneer CEO of the National Competitiveness Council of Nigeria. He is also a member of Harvard University’s Shorenstein Center advisory board, and past agenda board member of the World Economic Forum. He was alternate President of the West Africa Bankers Association. Mordi holds Four Masters degrees from SAIS Johns Hopkins (MIPP), Harvard University (MPA), IESE, Barcelona (MBA) and American University (M.A.) He also garnered an advanced management diploma from Harvard Business School.

Yana Hongla

Associate Director

Yana is a vastly experienced analytics and statistics expert.  With  certification in  business intelligence and data mining, Yana has worked across Africa and in the USA with leading corporates, the US government and multilateral organizations.   He earned a Bsc and Msc in Economics & Finance and Business Analytics respectively from the University of texas Austin, and an MA in international economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS

Chuka Anietie-Effiong

Associate

Chuka is a competitiveness practitioner with hands on experience in private-public platforms. Chuka consulted on DFID funded projects and led the project to institute Nigeria’s first competitiveness index. He holds an economics degree from University of Hull and did MBA coursework at University of Chicago.

Mac Atasie

Resource Partner

Mac is the MD/CEO of NEXTZON a rapidly growing West African management consulting, Research and enterprise development company. Mac has valuable experience in the Financial Services, Payments, Brewing, Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, and Aviation Industries. He started his career at Nigerian Breweries Plc. West Africa’s largest brewing company, before moving to Accenture where he worked for over a decade. At Accenture, Macauley was Head of Venturing/Payment Systems & Senior Manager, Strategy. Mac has incubated several enterprises in the Fintech and logistics ecosystem. Some of the better known companies are Global Payments Services Limited and eXL Management services Ltd.

Macauley has led several industry-defining initiatives such as the National Switching Project, ATM Consortium Project, and Application Services Provider Project aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises. He anchored the strategic restructuring, positioning and growth of the group that resulted in today’s Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa

Macauley has a BSc. and an MSc. in Microbiology, from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Mac has attended executive programmes at Stanford Business School, Cranfield University (U.K.) and Wits University (South Africa).
